A Casual Approach to Traditional Design
While traditional furniture has long been a staple in interior design we’re seeing a change in how people want to use it. We recently shared some predictions from our designers on what they think is going to be big in the new year. One of those predictions was a more casual approach to traditional spaces. We’re seeing a pairing of timeless furniture and modern pieces to create livable spaces with high-end style. Here are some tips on how to get the look.

Incorporate carved furniture. A well chosen chair with carved legs has the potential to completely change the feel of a modern space. The Heath chair has just enough exposed wood with delicate carvings to add a softness to pieces with hard edges and clean lines.

Update your home with traces of the past. Burl wood is a classic style that has recently made a comeback. Casual traditional spaces incorporate pieces that reflect style from the past but are designed for today. The Richmond Mappa sideboard has the perfect blend of classic and modern to add a bit of history and character to your home.

Pair ornate accessories with modern pieces. The Blair sofa, with plush boxy cushions and sleek arms contrasts perfectly with an ornate mirror. Transitional tables and luxurious designer fabrics complete the look for a high end but comfortable living room.

Use timeless pieces in modern fabrics. There are few styles more iconic than the wing chair. Give it a modern upgrade with a contemporary fabric in neutral hues. Add a wing chair to any corner of your home for a classic touch and an easy upgrade.
