Do’s and Don’ts for Decorating with Artwork
Liven Up Your Chattanooga Interior Design
Artwork has the final say in your home. It’s the finishing touch. It adds personality, and makes your home unique. This is why it is so important to get it right. Don’t let one small mistake ruin a great Chattanooga interior design. Check out these do’s and don’ts for getting artwork right in your home, and creating a space that looks professionally curated.
Do: Hang artwork at eye level. If you have to look up to see it, it’s too high. Of course, there are some exceptions but as a general rule, hanging art should be easy to see as you pass through the space.
Don’t: Choose artwork that isn’t proportionate to the space. For example, you wouldn’t want to hang a tiny print on a large wall. But if you find one you love, make it work with multiples and turn it into a chic gallery wall.
Do: Use artwork to create symmetry. If you already have an amazing focal point in the space, why not highlight it? Flank a bed, a fireplace, or a window with a gorgeous view with a set of paintings or prints.
Don’t: Go for the obvious trends. Choose artwork that speaks to you or has some personal meaning. It’s fun to work in a few trendy pieces here and there, but if you want to make your home feel unique, reflect that in the artwork you choose.
Do: Create visual balance. If you hang several pieces on one wall, opt for one large piece for the opposing wall. This helps draw the eyes around the room, and creates more interest in the space.
