tufted1 stool / headboard / linen sofa / leather sofa / chair / bench

There are so many ways to work classic design into a space. When you start with pieces that will outlast any trend, you’ll have a look that’s versatile and will always be easy to update. One of our favorite classic looks is anything with tufting. Tufted pieces always look polished and work with casual looks just as well as more formal styles. Here are a few ways to work tufted pieces into your home that will give it timeless design.

  • You can never go wrong with a tufted sofa in linen or leather. When the main piece in your living space is classic then it’s easy to add and remove other pieces when you feel like it. Why commit to just one style in a room when you can blend several?
  • An accent chair is a fun way to try the tufted look. It can easily be moved around the house and adds an instant touch of style. Use one in the corner of a bedroom or try placing a pair of them in front of a fireplace for a symmetrical look.
  • Create that spa hotel feel in your bedroom with a tufted headboard. Upholstered headboards and beds create a luxurious vibe. Plus, they’re easily paired with any type of furniture.
  • You can get the tufted look in the kitchen too. Tufted barstools bring a soft and unexpected look to a space that’s normally filled with angular lines and rigid surfaces.
  • A tufted bench is the perfect stylish touch at the foot of the bed with a plush throw. It’s also a great option as seating at a dining table because it brings another element to the room.

When you decorate your space with a few classic pieces then you have a canvas you can work with for years, no matter how often your style changes. Visit our design center where you’ll find more inspiration for incorporating tufted pieces and other classic styles into your home.

Five Ways to Incorporate Industrial Style

Written by

industrial1

candle holder / cart / bed / cocktail table / end table / tv console

If you’re looking for a way to add instant character to your home, then consider incorporating an industrial piece. Industrial style furniture is typically made with a mix of metal and wood. While these pieces are usually heavily distressed, they still have a modern vibe. Distressed wood, hammered steel, and aged metal are all characteristics of rustic industrial style. Typically, these pieces have a lot of variation in the wood tones. This makes it very easy to mix with other wood finishes. Here are five ways to add industrial style to your home.

Rethink your accessories. Many small items, such as candle holders or lamps, are just enough to bring some industrial style to your space. Just keep it simple. When it comes to smaller items, use less but think big. Use large scale accessories to keep the look clean and uncluttered.

Work your leather. Industrial pieces work really well with leather. The layering of textures in a space make it more interesting. Replace your coffee table with a statement piece that features heavily distressed wood and cool accents like wheels or large bolts.

Try a new TV console. The television is often the focal point of the family room so it should definitely be housed by a nice piece of furniture. Take this as your opportunity to incorporate an industrial piece. Whether it’s a complete wall unit or a simple console it will anchor the wall with style.

Switch out your bed. Your bedroom pieces don’t all have to be the same. Replace your bed with something that incorporates the features of an industrial style piece. As long as it mixes metal and wood it should work. Just be sure the wood tones blend with the other pieces you’re using in order to have a cohesive look.

Start small. Test the look in your home with an accent table. Something small and round should fit just about anywhere. Place it near a sofa as an extra spot to place a drink, next to a bed where you can’t fit a nightstand, or even next to the tub in a bathroom. Accent pieces are great for adding personality and functionality to a space.

There are so many ways to add industrial style to your space. You can carry the look throughout your entire home or you can simply add small touches in a few spaces. Visit our showroom and talk to one of our designers for more ideas on how you can get this look.

Must Haves for Every Home

Must Haves for Every Home

interior design Chattanooga

We live in a busy world. We are always on the go and working harder than ever. So when you come home you should be able to relax and enjoy it. Your home doesn’t have to be a spa for it to feel luxurious; it just needs a few key pieces. There are luxuries, big and small, that everyone should be able to enjoy at home.

A Plush Throw

When you sit down on the sofa after a long day a plush throw is so comforting. It’s perfect for a quick nap and easy to grab and wrap around yourself on a chilly night.  Whether neatly folded or tossed casually over the back of the sofa, a plush throw adds a cozy feel.

Pretty Barware

There’s just something about drinking from a nice wine glass or pouring a drink from a decanter. Even if you prefer iced tea or lemonade, sometimes you just want to feel fancy. Using nice barware feels just as good on pizza night as it does when entertaining guests. So be sure to keep some on hand even if you only break it out once in a while. It’s nice to have the option.

A Sturdy Tray

We just can’t say enough about how important it is to have a pretty and sturdy serving tray since it has so many uses. Such as having coffee in bed on a Saturday morning, carrying iced tea to the front porch on a hot summer night, using it for popcorn on movie night, or just being pretty on your coffee table. Even if you have only one, though we are all for having them throughout the house, be sure to use something that goes with everything, is a good size and has handles for easy transport.

A Comfy Chair

It may be in a bedroom, the living room or even the home office but every home needs at least one big comfy chair. This is the best way to create a cozy little reading nook. You don’t always want to sit on the sofa to read your latest page turner and you don’t necessarily want to lie in bed in the middle of the day. This is why a reading nook is so important. It’s a great place to relax and recharge your batteries. And remember that plush throw we were talking about earlier? You could probably use an extra one for this space.

Which of these luxuries is your home missing? Visit our showroom where we have luxuries for your home in every size and style.

This is the type of piece that’s not only stylish but super functional. Plus, every room can use a touch of black. We’ve styled this piece three ways to show you just how versatile it can be.

Use this piece in a living room to showcase and store your favorite books but mix them with some fun objects to add a little style. Gold urchins add a playful touch while pretty jars add a pop of color. Flank the cabinet with some decorative mirrors for a chic touch. Use the drawers to store magazines, mail or anything you want to keep out of sight.

HGTV furniture Chattanooga

curio/glasses/rug/sculpture/box/jacks/tote

Your home office doesn’t have to be all business when you incorporate such a stylish piece. It’s perfect for keeping important files and papers organized and within reach. Pretty cups and glasses can hold pens and pencils while decorative boxes hide office supplies such as staples and scissors. A leather magazine tote and cowhide rug layer in texture.

Finally, this curio has plenty of space to store your china and barware. Use the included silverware tray for your flatware then showcase your prettiest drinking glasses and decanters on the shelves. Use a stylish tray to group items inside and to make serving guests a snap.

Five Ways to Organize with Style

Five Ways to Organize with Style

storage bed / box / file cabinet / ottoman / chest

Getting organized at home is a popular new year’s resolution. When your home is organized and things are easy to find, it just makes life a little better. We believe getting organized is just as much fun as decorating when you use the right pieces. These are five of our favorite ways to organize with style.

  1. A bed with built in storage is a lifesaver is a small bedroom. It makes great use of the space underneath and is the perfect place to store extra bedding or clothes. Many beds even offer built in drawers on the sides, allowing for more storage.
  2. Pretty boxes and containers are always stylish and smart. Not only do they store small items that can make a space look cluttered but they are perfect for styling with other pieces. Mix them into a bookshelf with books and other decorative items or simply place them on top of a dresser or coffee table. They’re also a great solution for storing photographs if you don’t have a place to keep albums.
  3. Wood file cabinets blend right in with other pieces of furniture. Many lateral file cabinets can double as a nightstand. This is a stylish way to keep your important documents within reach if you don’t have the space for a home office.
  4. Storage ottomans are always a go-to when you need stylish storage because they’re available in endless fabrics and styles and they’re also super functional. Not only can items such as books, magazines, and toys be stored away and out of sight but they also serve as footrests and extra seating and are easily moved around as needed.
  5. If you’re trying to save space while getting organized then consider a piece like this door chest. Taller than a dresser, but not as wide, it makes use of vertical wall space saving room for other pieces. It also features trays behind doors, small cubbies and a drop-front drawer that allows you to use electronic components.

Make this the year you finally get organized! We have so many more options for stylish and functional pieces that will get your home in order in no time. Come by our showroom to find what works for you.
