Five Ideas for Decorating a Blank Wall

Everyone has that one space they struggle to decorate. It isn't always easy to know what to use, especially if you're not feeling inspired. So we've put together a few ideas to help you find that inspiration. If you've been looking at a blank wall in your house for far too long then this is for you. Here are five ways to add style to that blank wall in your home, once and for all.

Large scale artwork is probably the easiest solution.  Adding a single piece of artwork to a blank wall instantly changes the whole space. Just don't make the mistake of using a piece that's too small. Go big and center it on the wall. And remember, when it comes to large artwork, the more dramatic the better.

So you've already hung artwork in the space but you're still left with a lot of empty wall space. Consider metal wall decor. These are often found in groupings and can add a cool new textural element to the room.

Mix things up with a gallery wall. Gather a few of your favorite pieces of artwork then mix in a mirror or even a candle sconce for interest. Vary sizes, color and texture for a collected look. If you prefer a more uniform look then hang a set of coordinated prints in a large grid.

Start with mirrors. Hang a set of large mirrors across the wall and instantly open up the space. Choose a mirror with a unique feature such as a hanging chain or a sculptural look rather than the standard frame. Layer in artwork and fresh flowers or just keep it simple with sleek lighting.

Skip the artwork and hang an interesting wallpaper. Wallpaper isn't what it used to be and many are now made to be easily peeled away when you're ready for a change. What a fun way to add a punch of pattern or color and make that blank wall the focal point of the space! If you're feeling adventurous then go ahead and hang a mirror or a unique artwork for a special finishing touch.

You don't have to keep looking at that boring blank wall. Find your inspiration with one of these options or visit our design center for more ideas on how to decorate any space in your home.

Add Personality to a Neutral Bedroom

Neutral spaces are on trend in a big way, especially in bedrooms. When done the right way, they can have just as much impact as spaces filled with color and pattern. But if your neutral bedroom is leaving you feeling less than inspired, that could mean it needs a finishing touch. It’s easy to add personality to a neutral bedroom with just one or two pieces. Here are four easy ways to take your neutral bedroom to the next level.

mirror / bedroom

Who says you have to use the mirror that matches the dresser? Create a custom look by opting for a unique decorative mirror. This is such as easy way to add some style to the space. For a more traditional feel, match the mirror’s frame to the hardware, or for a more modern look, introduce another metallic to the room in a contrasting finish.

artwork / bedroom

An interesting piece of artwork can completely change the look and feel of a room, especially one that’s layered in neutrals. This mirrored map isn’t a piece you would typically see in a bedroom, which is what makes it work so well. Think beyond the norm and go for a large-scale piece that has graphic punch.

lamp / bedroom

Adding gold accessories to grey walls or furniture instantly warms up the space. It also adds a modern element to this rustic look. Polished gold pieces add a sophisticated flair, and in this space it’s the perfect contrast.

neutralpop4

rug / bedroom

An area rug in a rich color adds drama and a designer look to a neutral bedroom. Go for a wow factor with a bold color and a vintage inspired look. Choose a plush texture to give the space a luxurious feel.

Is your neutral bedroom looking a little tired? Bring it back to life with one of these easy updates! Visit our showroom where you’ll find lots of inspiration for adding personality to your neutral spaces.

Five Ways to Decorate a Blank Wall

Blank walls can be intimidating. They can also leave a space feeling uninspired and unfinished if left empty. Do your home and yourself a favor and fill in those blank spaces. There are endless ways to add style to a home by filling in those empty walls. Be inspired by some of our favorite ways to give your space some personality.

One large statement piece is sometimes all you need. If your preferred look is clean and uncluttered, then hang a large decorative mirror. Mirrors work anywhere. Not only do statement mirrors add a polished look to a space but they also bounce light around the room.

wall2

Uttermost

Hang several small prints in a grid for high impact. You can fill an entire wall or just the space over a piece of furniture.  Get a little more personal by filling a grid of frames with a collection of black and white family photos or with travel photography from past vacations.

A gallery wall is always a great way to work some style and personality into your home. This is similar to a grid but is typically less structured. A gallery wall should showcase favorite artwork, treasured photographs, and even quirky objects.

wall4

sconces / painting

Create a focal point that has symmetry by hanging a decorative mirror or a favorite piece of artwork then flanking it with a pair of sconces. These pieces are unified by the aged silver finish of the frames. Replace the candleholders with sconce lamps in a space the needs more lighting.

Artwork doesn’t always mean a painting or a photograph. Consider a large wood or metal piece that will bring some texture to the room. Pieces like these antique tiles that look like they were salvaged from an old building add a sense of history.
